DR Horton purchases last 146 lots in local housing community

With an increasing demand for housing in northern Marana, DR Horton has made moves to increase the supply.

The Arlington, Texas based home construction company has bought the last remaining 146 lots in The Village at Barnett for $5 million. The transaction comes a year after DR Horton bought the first 105 lots in The Village at Barnett in 2020. Will White and John Carroll, of Land Advisors Organization, oversaw the transaction.

Randy Bury, the founder and president of Moderne Communities who was responsible for selling the lots, is optimistic about what lays beyond the horizon for the local housing market. “Demand for new housing in north Marana continues to grow, which is quickly depleting the number of new buildable communities,” he told Tucson.com. “The area is emerging as a jobs corridor with its easy access to I-10. I expect this sub-market to continue to be strong as interest rates remain low and people keep moving here for our warm weather and outdoor lifestyle."

Bury is also looking to lift another local project off the ground at some point in 2021. He currently controls approximately 2,500 lots a half mile away from The Village at Barnett, as one component to a master plan community project. Phase one of this project is expected to include about 500 of those lots.
