Jing Luo, the new water director for the town of Marana, AZ, introduced himself to his new neighbors in this open letter puublished by Tucson Local Media. And it sounds like the town has a lot to look forward to under his leadership.
To begin with, Luo's arrival dovetailed nicely with the opening of a pair of water treatment facilities in Marana. Almost three years ago to the day, Marana's Town Council unanimously voted to move forward with plans to construct two water treatment facilities, one "for each of the two water systems that are impacted by emerging contaminants (PFAS & 1,4-dioxane)," Luo wrote.
"These emerging contaminants are not currently regulated by EPA with a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), but do have established health advisories," he added.
But Luo made it very clear in his open letter that his plan to improve his town's water infrastructure has just gotten started. Luo promised an impending unveiling of what he dubbed "a ten-year Infrastructure Improvement Plan," which aims to detect and then address any and all water and wastewater needs within Marana. This specific details of this plan are expected to all be worked out by the end of the summer.
