Habitat For Humanity has begun the process of building affordable homes for residents of Marana, Arizona.
The Tucson branch of Habitat For Humanity recently broke ground on a new affordable housing project in Marana that aims to place countless individuals beneath a roof that they can call their own. The groundbreaking ceremony comes right as the final tweaks are being made to another affordable housing project in Flowing Wells.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked significant promise for Habitat For Humanity after the foundation struggled through the COVID-19 pandemic. The rising costs of construction caused by the pandemic slowed most building projects across the United States, and Habitat For Humanity Tucson CEO T. Vanhook made it clear that they aren't quite out of the woods yet. "We're still struggling a bit with materials and certainly with volunteers. As the various variants come out and people are concerned about the Coronavirus, we're still having a limited number of volunteers," remarked Vanhook.
Another obstacle that remains is the personnel. Habitat For Humanity stresses that volunteers are limited for these projects. In an attempt to help combat this project, Habitat For Humanity Tucson has said that they're willing to train additional people in the science of building homes.
