With all the construction of new developments in the town of Marana comes a simple explanation: there's more demand for housing because there are more people. And the town is obliging by increasing the supply.
According to the most recent census data, the town of Marana is continuing to increase in terms of population. The census lists Marana's official population as 51,908. That's nearly a 50% growth from 2010 (48.5%, to be precise). The town's population sat at 34,961 in 2010.
The numbers brought about a demographic change. The town's Hispanic population grew from 22% to 25%, and the town's black population increased from 2% to 3%.
Heath Vescovi-Chiordi, assistant to the town manager for the Town of Marana, told Inside Tucson Business that the number may be even higher, but that getting an accurate read on a town's population is extremely difficult to do in the middle of a pandemic.
As a result of the ever-increasing numbers, the real estate market in the town of Marana has been booming throughout 2021. Numerous residential real estate projects have begun in 2021 to make way for the expected continued population growth, including the Retreat at Twin Peaks neighborhood and The Alexander project.
