In the heat of a Sonoran Desert summer, you might want to let the kids cool out on the Splash Pad at Marana Heritage River Park. Or even join them. Just be sure to wear or bring water appropriate clothes and shoes (and sunscreen.) For the rest of the park, as always, it is highly recommended to wear a hat, wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water. The park is open from 7 AM to 9 PM. During the summer, enjoy the early or later hours to avoid excessive sun exposure.
In addition to the large shaded playground with multiple slides and even a small rock climbing wall, and the splash pad, the park offers two baseball fields, two large open grass areas for sports and other activities, walking/biking paths, hiking trails, community gardens, ramadas with picnic tables, bbq grills and public restrooms.
As with all Marana public parks, there is no admission fee, although there are charges to reserve the open grass fields for athletic events, and to reserve the standard or group ramadas. There is a slightly higher fee to reserve a ramada with a liquor permit.
Marana Heritage River Park is located at 12375 N. Heritage Park Drive
