An ATV Tour Through a Box Canyon: AZ ATV Adventures

The Phoenix Tucson Box Canyon Tour happens in Florence, Arizona, about halfway between Tucson and Phoenix on State Route 79. Driving time from either city is approximately one hour (make that about 40 minutes from Marana.) The scenic trail is about 34 miles in length and about 3 hours in duration. The elevation gain is over 1,500 vertical feet as you climb up and over the front range of the Pinal Mountains. Along the tour, your guide points out petroglyphs left over from the ancient Native Americans.

Another point of interest is an old adobe building that served as a way station for the Butterfield Overland Stage Coach Company during the 1860s. For a short time, it also serviced the Pony Express on what was known as the “Butterfield Route.” The real highlight of the tour is Box Canyon. You are in the canyon for about 6 miles. The middle 3 miles are in a slot canyon with walls that are about 1,500 feet high on both sides and only about 15-20 feet apart in some places. The scenery is incredible!

Not included with your price: Gratuities to your guide, parties of 6 or more people (not vehicles) there is a 15% gratuity upfront charge, security deposit of $500 per vehicle on valid credit card prior to tour time.

Here are just a few details about your adventure: Ages: Must be at least 15.5 years to drive ATV - with learner's permit, duration: 4 hours, start Times: 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Note: No unaccompanied minors are allowed. Participants under 17 years of age or younger must have an adult with them while on tour. At least one Driver's License in the group must match the name on either the reservation itself or on one of the signed waivers. The credit card used to purchase reservation must match someone in the group as well.
