Water Recreation In Winter: Oro Valley Aquatic Center

It might be a little late in the year for this blog, but it serves a purpose. The Oro Valley Aquatic Center remains open through the colder weather, albeit with shorter hours and limited facilities.

For a quick look at the somewhat complicated hourly schedule, check out the Oro Valley website at https://www.orovalleyaz.gov/Government/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Facilities/Aquatic-Center. Some of the complication comes from having two pools, an Olympic pool and a Recreation pool.

Not available during the colder months, the pool area includes a water slide into the recreation pool, and a kid’s splash pad.

Entrance fees are very reasonable since children three and under enter free, individual admission is $5, and families get in for a combined $14.

From their website: “the Oro Valley Aquatic Center is Southern Arizona’s premier, competition-level facility includes:- Interactive splash pad - Giant water slide - 25-yard recreation pool - Competition 50-meter pool - Colorado timing system, touch pads & score board - Classroom for parties, meetings and classes - Family changing rooms - Concession stand - Shaded bleachers.”

Located at 22 West Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ 85704 is in the general area of the Shadow Mountain Estates, Campo Bello, Sunstone Estates, Pusch Ridge Estates and Linda Vista Citrus neighborhoods. This places the Oro Valley Aquatic Center less than 20 minutes from downtown Marana.

With the expected opening of the new Marana Aquatic Center in mid-2025 (we’ll cover that in a later blog), the Oro Valley Aquatic Center will fill in the need in the meantime for Marana residents.
